Case Study: Heavy Press Logistics

FOX Brasil Freight Forwarder

Press Project – from EXW Brazil on CFR Mexico

Once again FOX Brasil | Project Logistics, with know-how in heavy press logistics, was nominated to the Management & Logistics services for an important customer and traditional player on the automotive press segment.

The press (L 6,00 x W 4,20 x H 3,20mm – 55 tons) + its accessories were moved from Brazil to Mexico under ATA CARNET customs regime.

The Management

Even knowing the customer for a long time, we always start the process like it is the first time. From analyzing cargo drawings on technical visit at customer’s plant & kick-off meeting, we prepare the method of statement for each step of the project.

We always assure that the entire port-to-door logistics will respect the HSE and as result, we expect cargo arriving at destination and the final customer getting its brand-new press on time.

The challenge

  • Restrictions for out of gauge cargo and adverse weather conditions.
  • Customs clearance with fiscal inspection at the terminal without delaying to ship the cargo.

The Packing Solutions

Each press has their own particularity, and the packing is very important to protect the cargo. In this case, as we had fiscal inspection at the port, our team developed a special packing detail to make it easier for the customs to check the press serial number without damaging the package. Of course, shipping marks and the gravity center of the cargo was informed clearly to secure load and unloading.

The Customs Clearance: ATA Carnet

Our expert team made the Customs Clearance under the ATA Carnet customs regime. The ATA Carnet is an international customs document that permits duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for up to one year. ATA Carnets are mainly issued to cover:

•          goods for use at trade fairs, shows and exhibitions

•          professional equipment

•          commercial samples

•          personal effects and goods for sports purposes

Are you planning to send your heavy equipment or machinery abroad? You can count on our project team & customs experts to support you: project@foxbrasil.com

Customer Success is our success too!
