Coronavirus: FOX Brasil follows the situation of Brazilian Ports and Airports (Update April 23 2020)

The World situation due to the COVID-19 is uncertain. We cannot be sure of the impacts on International Trade during and after the outbreak. FOX Brasil continues to monitor the coronavirus affect on Brazilian Market and here you will find an daily update of the actual situation of our Ports, Airports and Services.

Brazilian situation and Preventive Measures:

Over a month after the first confirmed case in Brazil, the outbreak reached all the 26 states and the federal district, with 35% in the state of São Paulo. The latest Ministry of Health situation report registered 45.757 cases in Brazil.

The Ministry of Health also advised for home isolation of those showing any symptoms of coronavirus and their family and is also encouraging social distancing, which has been followed by most of the people, with only essential business operating.

The Ministry of Justice placed an 15-day restriction on the entry by land of citizens from all neighbouring South American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela).

Cargo logistics are considered essential services by the Ministry of Infrastructure and some measures has been taken to assure the safety of the workers. Those involved on operations in ports, airports and truck drivers have also priority on the influenza vaccination.

Ports and Airports:

Measures for increased surveillance and controls at Brazilian ports, airports and ground crossings has been defined by National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA):

• Adhere to the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) at points of entry
• Guidance to sanitary inspection and healthcare staffs about the use of PPE and increased sensibility for detection and management of suspected cases
• Reinforcement of contingency plans and preparedness for immediate reporting of suspected cases at the points of entry
• Intensification of cleaning and disinfection routines and procedures at port and airport terminals and use of PPE by cleaning workers
• Reinforcement of disinfection protocols for aircrafts
• Addressing passengers, in Portuguese, English and Mandarin, through airport PA systems on the risks and measures to be taken to avoid transmission

Port operations continue without disruption. The labour force is reduced and health protocols are in place in most private and public ports, causing delays and changes on cargo time release.

Cargo operations on airports also continue. Most of passenger flights are suspended until May, but cargo operations on airports continue normally.
